ASSOCIATION BULGARIAN TRADITIONAL DAIRY PRODUCTS

Association “Bulgarian Traditional Dairy Products” is a voluntary, independent and non-governmental association of legal entities from the dairy industry. It protects its members and their interests for the protection of Bulgarian traditional dairy products with Protected Designations of Origin. Develops and defends product specifications for the production of dairy products with a Protected Designation of Origin, according to EU Regulation 2024/1143 of the European Parliament and of the Council, on geographical indications.

By Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1571 of the Commission for the entry of a name in the register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications “Bulgarian white brine cheese/Bulgarsko byalo salamureno sirene” is entered as (PDO) and this is published in The Official Journal of the EU, issue L 192 of 31.07.2023, as well as IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2023/1531 OF THE COMMISSION of 18 July 2023 for the entry of a name in the register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications (” Bulgarian yogurt/Bulgarsko kiselo mlyako’ (PDO).

This is an achievement because these products are produced on the territory of the entire country, with Bulgarian raw materials, Bulgarian feed, Bulgarian symbiotic leavens, Bulgarian technology. The PDO is a guarantee for the quality and authenticity of the products. The PDO is placed on Bulgarian yogurt and Bulgarian white brine cheese. The PDO distinguishes Bulgarian yogurt and Bulgarian white brine cheese as being of Bulgarian origin and unites producers with the same values. PDO gives easy access to European and other markets, makes them recognizable as Bulgarian. PDO stands for unique quality and unique origin.

The Association of Bulgarian Traditional Dairy Products is the guarantor of the quality of products with the Protected Designation of Origin.
