Risk Assessment Centre on Food Chain – Who are we

The Risk Assessment Centre on Food Chain (RACFCH), through its independent, scientifically based assessments, helps and facilitates, on the one hand, consumers to make their informed choices, and on the other hand, the competent state authorities to assess the effect of all measures taken to manage risk along the food chain.

EFSA Focal Point for Bulgaria is situated at the RACFCH, and acts as a connecting hub coordinating the activities between EFSA – European Food Safety Authority, and the national food safety authorities, research institutes, universities and other stakeholders.

Risk communication, trainings and Focal point

Communication through the exchange of information by all interested scientific parties related to food safety, through the organization of meetings, scientific and practical conferences, seminars, trainings, joint projects, etc.

Risk Assessment on Food Chain

Protecting human, animal and plant health, the environment and biodiversity, animal welfare, food and feed safety by providing scientific opinions and risk assessments. Analyzing data on new genomic techniques, emerging disease risks and those related to biological and chemical hazards and contaminants.

Plant Protection Products, Active Substances, Safeners and Synergists

– Performing expert assessments for activities related to the authorization of plant protection products, ensuring their safety for the benefit of the environment, society and business.

RACFCH issues an electronic scientific journal, Bulgarian One Health Journal, referenced in NACID – National Center for Information and Documentation.
